fpencode.dll - What is fpencode.dll?
fpencode.dll File Description:
The process done by the fpencode.dll module consists of a code that pairs a sequence of characters from a particular character set, called a code page, with a sequence of natural numbers, octets or electrical pulses. This process is done in order to aid the storage of text in computers and the transmission of text through networks of telecommunication. Examples include the Morse code, which encodes characters of the alphabet as a succession of long and short depressions of a telegraph key; and ASCII, which encodes letters, numerals, and symbols both as integers and as 8-bit byte versions of those integers called octets.
A character encoder, such as the fpencode.dll module, constantly maintains status information between successive calls so that it can properly encode character sequences that span blocks. The fpencode.dll module also preserves trailing characters at the last part of data blocks and uses the trailing characters in the subsequent encoding operation. The fpencode.dll module is useful for network transmission and file operations because its operations often deal with blocks of data instead of an entire data stream.
Encoding describes the rules by which the fpencode.dll module operates. It uses the Unicode Standard to assign a number or code point to each character in all supported scripts. Unicode Transformation Format (UTF) is the format the fpencode.dll module uses to encode that code point. As an example, in UTF8 encoding, it describes the rules for encoding the sequence of bytes to represent the text as Unicode UTF-8. The fpencode.dll module transforms the set of Unicode characters into a sequence of bytes.
The functions of the fpencode.dll file are similar to what the ieencode.dll and msencode.dll modules do. However, the fpencode.dll module is specific to the Microsoft Office release to be used by its HTML composer program - Microsoft FrontPage.Author: Microsoft Corporation
